TL;DR: In its Q4 2024 earnings report, Take-Two Interactive provided a more specific release window for Grand Theft Auto VI, narrowing it down to "fall 2025."

In its Q4 2024 earnings report, Take-Two Interactive provided a more specific release window for the highly anticipated Grand Theft Auto VI, narrowing it down to “fall 2025.” This update refines the previous estimate of “calendar year 2025.”

“As we enter Fiscal 2025 with positive momentum, we expect to deliver Net Bookings of $5.55 to $5.65 billion,” the report states. “Our outlook reflects a narrowing of Rockstar Games’ previously established window of Calendar 2025 to Fall of Calendar 2025 for Grand Theft Auto VI. We are highly confident that Rockstar Games will deliver an unparalleled entertainment experience, and our expectations for the commercial impact of the title continue to increase.”

In related news, Take-Two revealed that Grand Theft Auto V has sold an impressive 200 million copies, making it the second bestselling game of all time, trailing behind Minecraft by 100 million copies.

Despite the excitement, Rockstar has been tight-lipped about additional details regarding GTA VI. A trailer, which was leaked early, remains one of the few insights into the game. Rumors also suggest a possible PC launch for the original Red Dead Redemption, although no official announcements have been made.

Take-Two Interactive’s CEO Strauss Zelnick expressed confidence in the fall 2025 release date during an interview with IGN, dismissing concerns about potential delays into 2026.

Rockstar Games officially revealed Grand Theft Auto VI last December, with the trailer becoming the most-viewed video game reveal on YouTube within 24 hours. Set in a fictionalized version of Florida called Leonida, the game will feature protagonists Lucia and a yet-unnamed male character speculated to be named Jason.

Questions about GTA VI’s release date have persisted since its initial reveal, exacerbated by internal conflicts over Rockstar’s return-to-office policy. Despite these challenges, Take-Two and Rockstar remain committed to the fall 2025 launch.

Grand Theft Auto VI is set to be released on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S, with a PC version expected to follow later.
